Aberdeen Roncalli at Clark/Willow Lake. The Cyclones have won ten in a row but there is some real skepticism there because ten of those 14 have losing records and the only ranked team they beat is Sisseton. That said, Roncalli couldn’t beat Sisseton so we think the Cyclones win their 15th straight (it’s at home too).
Arlington at Colman-Egan. Cardinals and Hawks go head to head in an evenly matched contest. Home court will be a big deal here, Colman-Egan by six.
Faulkton Area at Langford Area. Langford Area has a big game tomorrow in Mitchell at the Corn Palace. The Corn Palace is the only place they have lost a game all year. They might be looking ahead and not paying attention to the Trojans. Upset? Nah, it’s a home game and the Trojans are 0-4 against teams with double figure wins.
RC Stevens at SF Washington. Stevens put the state on notice in the opener with a double figure win over Washington and now plays the Warriors on the road in the rematch. Washington has lost six of seven so they need to flip things fast. We say Washington wins and starts a three game winning streak.
Viborg-Hurley at Parker. On paper this looks like a potentially okay contest but really the Cougars are 1-4 against teams with winning records and 8-2 against the rest. Parker is in another class. They have not played as clean as they would like but they have faced a much tougher schedule. Parker by 15.
Aberdeen Central at Brandon Valley. The Lynx have won seven of eight and this stretch started with a ten point win on the road in Aberdeen four weeks ago. Now it’s a home game and we saw Valley by a dozen.
Dakota Valley at Dell Rapids. For Dakota Valley it’s now or never. Time to step up and get the big win they have been looking for. The Panthers did beat MVP early in the season and were on the heels of Vermillion and EPJ recently. Opponent Dell Rapids went from the state’s hottest team to a tam needing a win after losing three straight. Quarrier back is against the wall, they will win by four.
Tea Area at Parkston. Tea has a double header of Parkston and Lennox this weekend. Next weekend is huge with EPJ and Sioux Falls Christian on the schedule but will they be focused on the tougher part of this road trip? Yes, Tea by 14 tonight.
Hamlin at Redfield/Doland. The fight for positioning behind Sioux Valley and Clark/Willow Lake is on! Hamlin is playing teams tougher and playing better while the Pheasants are sliding down how fill fast on a five game losing streak that had some ugly Ls. Hanlin, big.
Watertown at Pierre. Watertown was on a nice run winning four of five and those wins were over four top ten teams. Losses to Brookings and Lincoln have them back on their heels. The Governor season is pretty much like the government right now, who knows what is going to happen the next day. But it’s going to be interesting. Pierre wins, and keeps it interesting.
DSU/Culver’s Classic.
DeSmet vs. Irene-Wakonda. The Eagles just lost in Nebraska this week but they are still one off the hottest teams in the state having won every South Dakota game in 2017. They will smack De Smet with a 24 point win.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton vs. Pine Ridge. The Thorpes want some respect and they have a chance on a big stage to grab some. Pine Ridge is fresh off a loss to Little Wound in a close while MVP has won four in a row including wins over Dell Rapids and Wagner. Titans take a fight, win by eight.
Aberdeen Roncalli vs. Sioux Falls Christian. Tough time to catch the Chargers. Winners of five straight with some nice wins included in there (Vermillion, Chamberlain, EPJ). SF Christian will be fresh while Roncalli is playing a mid-afternoon game fresh off a battle the night before. Chargers by 11.
St. Thomas More vs. Dell Rapids. This is another big match-up where one team has the edge of fresh legs. Dell Rapids plays the night before where as More will have four days rest. Cavs by five in game that has two really deep teams competing. If Dell Rapids has the legs in half two this could be the game of the day.
Langford Area vs. Chamberlain. How will the Lions fare against one of the state’s best Class A teams? They handled Groton Area by double figures so we feel like this is going to be a game. The Cubs are a veteran team and this isn’t the type of game they usually slip on. Cubs by four scores.
Sully Buttes vs. White River. The Chargers coming into this game red shot with some big wins over solid teams. White River isn’t consistent enough to play with them through the fourth quarter. Three quarters? Sure. Four? Not tomorrow.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket vs. Chester Area. Two teams that come in on very different runs. The Blackhawks have not been playing very well while Chester Area is flying high playing like the team we ranked as the preseason number one. The only team to even slow Chester since the holidays was Class A number one Sioux Valley. This will be a 15 point game minimal.
Bridgewater-Emery vs. Corsica-Stickney. The Main Event. The Big Burger. The Corn Palace Feature. The game that will pack the stands. Number 1 vs Number 2. The teams that have been knocking off all the rest of the good Class B teams. It should be outstanding. And Saturday after the main event there will be NO MORE unbeatens in the state of South Dakota. Boom!
