Top Seed: Northwest Academy – The Hornets drew the top seed after coming three points short of a district championship last season. Northwest features an dynamic scoring point guard in 5’7″ 2017 Ryan Warren-Hogue and a double-double machine in 6’6″ 2018 forward Jamarr Williams. Wilshon Warren, a 6’3″ 2018 wing, is an explosive athlete who can make jumpers.
Top Challenger: Duchesne – The Pioneers are a junior-laden team with excellent size and balance. They have a strong frontcourt with athletic 6’4″ wing Mitchell Fairless, 6’5″ post player Luke Lowenstein and 6’5″ Stretch 4 Adam Moore. All three are 2018s. Another 2018 standout is solid guard Cooper Tune.
Darkhorse: McCluer South-Berkeley – There are a number of teams that could be in this category, but the Bulldogs are currently on a six-game winning streak. They have a bonafide scorer in 5’7″ 2017 point guard Berlin Roberson and a couple of productive athletes in 2017s Jordan Cole and Tariq Arties. Trinity, Lutheran North and North Tech could also make some noise.
Prediction: Duchesne
