He has drawn an offer from one Division I program already and has been in contact with several others. Robinson is a talented ball handler who can shoot and score as well as run a team who spent the offseason competing for one of the nation’s premier AAU team.
“I have a pretty good mid-range jump shot, I’m very very aggressive, I can handle the ball and I pick my spots,” he said. “I can get players involved and I can run the tempo of the team.”
Robinson competed for the No. 1 ranked KC Run GMC 15U squad that featured a host of talented 2019 players, including his Park Hill South teammate Desi Williams, Bishop Miege big men Jeremiah Robinson and Josh Earley and Hayden wing Zack Harvey, among others.
“This summer I had a strength and conditioning trainer and we worked on getting stronger and into basketball shape,” he said. “We worked on my jump shot, coming off ball screens and just point guard stuff.
“When there are six or seven guys who are high major Division I players, it makes my job as a point guard a lot easier. We had a lot of fun this summer. I didn’t have to do it all and was able to just pick my spots. I focused on getting them involved and we had a really good summer.”
Park Hill South features a terrific backcourt that includes Williams, Saadique Perkins and Jacob Kline. Robinson said he had Desi Williams have terrific chemistry together on the court after playing varsity ball last year as freshmen and competing together on the summer circuit.
“We have real good chemistry,” Robinson said. “Last year we were just getting adjusted to the varsity, but after playing summer ball together, we know what we can do and where we can do it at and everything.”
Robinson currently has an offer from Kansas State and has also drawn interest from Wichita State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. He has taken an unofficial to Kansas State before the Wildcats offered.
“It is a blessing and the recruiting process can get stressful for some people, but I am just going to go out there and play,” Robinson said. “I just thank god that they are even looking at me.”
Robinson says he is a fan of Russell Westbrook and enjoys the way he sets the tempo.
“I like how he is aggressive and his pull-up game is there,” Robinson said. “I try to pattern my game after his.”
