Sheldon is a rare talent that he has a rare combination of length and skill that allows him to play several different spots. PHD caught up with Sheldon quickly to hear about his season to date.
“We are continuing to get better as a team everyday,” Sheldon said. “My game has gotten better by getting my teammates involved and not necessarily scoring big numbers.”
The Quarriers compete with balance which is why guys like Sheldon, Mason Peter, Mason Schmidt, Tanner Heim, and Jeffrey Schuch, all finish games with solid numbers in the book and a win on the scoreboard.
The Dell Rapids recent winning streak isn’t just beating random teams, they’ve beaten Madison, Elk Point-Jefferson, and most recently Vermillion. Tonight they face Flandreau and tomorrow they take on Tea Area.
Schuch put up a monster 27 points and 20 rebounds in the win over Vermillion while Sheldon scored his 11 and was one of four in double figures. Against Elk Point Jefferson, Sheldon led the team with his 20 points. In the Madison win five different guys were in double figures.
That is the balance that Dell Rapids is playing with, it’s the balanced game that Sheldon spoke of and has always showcased, and it’s what has Sheldon’s Dell Rapids team being talked about as a state contender.
Along the way schools are looking at Sheldon for the next level. Two are calling the most.
Dakota State University and Mount Marty are showing the most interest in me,” Sheldon said.
