“Well, we started off slow this year because of an injury I had in football but we started to get it going last two weeks. The team has been playing together and being unselfish which is always good.”
HCV is 8-3 on the year with a victory over Four Winds/Minnewaukan two weeks ago. In that game the 6-foot-1 Reed scored 20 points while fellow guard Kyle Henningsgard had 23.
The game proved that Austin and Kyle are one of the best guard combos in Class B basketball and that the team is a state title threat.
A key reason that the Burros have been able to make a run is Reed being healthy, as well as improved.
“My game has changed for me by being more consistent from the field as well as from the line as I’m at attacking a lot better this season,” Reed told PHD.
This past August Jamestown offered Reed a scholarship so Austin is looking at their program and one more.
“Jamestown and Concordia-Moorhead are really probably my final two, I still haven’t quite decided which one yet.”
