“I was in shock when Augustana offered because I didn’t expect it at all,” Freidel said. “I went on the visit to see the campus and they surprised me with the offer.”
As the defending national champions, getting an offer from Augustana is held in high regard. If an offer comes from that program to a home state kid it puts people on notice. It put Noah on notice as well.
“I think highly of Augustana one because they recently won the national championship and I have had family go there in the past and they loved it,” Noah said. “I also have kids on my AAU program going there and I like what I hear!”
After receiving the offer Freidel went back to focusing on the season at Tea Area where they have improved to 9-2. The team was flustered by a couple early losses to Vermillion and Madison but a five game winning streak has momentum rolling.
“I think we are getting better as the years go on, we are a really young team and our only real veteran is my brother Ethan,” Noah explained
“We still have a lot to improve on, but if we play as a team we are a tough team to beat.”
The Titans beat Dakota Valley early in the year and then started their five game run beating Tri-Valley and then most recently Aberdeen Roncalli. Along the way Ethan has had one final chance to play with his brother Ethan, one of South Dakota’s best shooters.
“The experience has been a blast, he has really helped me mature as a player,” Noah said. “We have had a lot of good memories but I feel like our best memories are still yet to come!”
Freidel is considered South Dakota’s top sophomore player and prospect and the Augustana offer was actually his second offer overall.
“I also got an offer from Dakota Wesleyan University,” Noah told PHD.
As far as interest from other schools Noah said he hasn’t heard from many but that will change. The stretch run of the season is coming and then the 16U for South Dakota Attack this spring and summer should be very exciting.
