On the basketball court, the 6’5″ Torrey can play just about any position on the court for his high school team. When Torrey is not playing basketball, he is also a standout football and baseball player with collegiate recruiting interest in all three sports. Torrey is one of the top all-around athletes in Southeast Missouri.
Torrey has received interest from Southeast Missouri State in both football and basketball while Ole Miss and Arkansas State have expressed interest in football.
“My favorite sport is which ever one I’m playing during that season,” Torrey said. “I enjoy playing all of the sports.”
Torrey has been enjoying an excellent junior season for the Bulldogs with his size and overall versatility. He was one of the top players at the recent Bloomfield Christmas Tournament, where he averaged 21 points a game. He provided one of the tournament’s biggest highlights with a shot at the buzzer to defeat Bernie 31-29 in the first round. Torrey is very good in the post, but he is also very comfortable playing on the perimeter with his passing and shooting skills.
“Wherever my coach wants me to play, that is where I’ll play,” Torrey said. “I’m always in the gym and working on all parts of my game. I’m still working on my ball handling and trying to get a more consistent shot.”
Torrey spent his summer playing with the SEMO Bulls 16U where he teamed up with some of the top Class of 2018 prospects in the bootheel region.
“It was a great experience with the Bulls,” he said. “I got a chance to play against some great competition and it definitely made me better.”
