12 p.m. — Basehor-Linwood vs. Hogan Prep
Look for Hogan Prep 2018 guard Damien Daniels to put on a show. Hogan Prep doesn’t feature a lot of size, but they really play hard and when they’re hitting on all cylinders, they’re fun to watch. They’ll have to be making their outside shots to have a chance against a solid Bsehor-Linwood team.
Daniels is a 5’8 left handed point guard who teams with fellow 2018 Rashaan Collins to form a 1-2 punch in the backcourt. Hogan Prep is 6-4 and are coming off a championship of the Rolla Holiday Tournament last week in which they won three games over Warrensburg, Hickman and Rolla quite handily.
1:30 p.m. — Topeka Hayden vs. Liberty North
Liberty North doesn’t currently have any players ranked in the PrepHoops.com/Missouri rankings, but they probably will when the rankings are updated as 2018 guard Robbie Hanson and 2017 guard Dominic Fragola are both early-season risers. Together they form one of the Kansas City area’s more under-rated backcourts and have helped North put together a 7-3 record, including fifth-place finish last week at William Jewell.
Staying with Hayden, which features some of the state’ premier talents, will be a challenge however.
3 p.m. — Olathe East vs. Raymore-Peculiar
It’s kind of surprising to see Ray-Pec sitting at 3-7 season this season as they have some players with some ability, including 6’3 2017 guard Key’Vaughn Shockley and 6’7 2018 forward Wesley McCullough. The later is ranked among our top 100 players in Missouri in the 2018 class.
5 p.m. — Blue Valley North vs. Park Hill South
Lamel Robinson, remember the name. He’s the KC area’s next big thing. The 2019 guard is currently ranked No. 3 in our 2019 rankings and has a host of high major Division I offers already. He can handle it, shoot it from distance and can really create for himself and his team.
Robinson, 2019 Desi Williams and 2017 guard Jacob Kline form an exciting backcourt for South.
7 p.m. — Blue Valley Northwest vs. Lee’s Summit North
This will be our first chance to see Lee’s Summit North play this season, but they certainly have some players with a lot of ability. Among the Lee’s Summit North standouts are point guard Emil Spriggs, shooting guard Logan Jenkins, guard Cameron Hairston and Elijah Farr, one of the better big men in the KC area.
8:30 p.m. — Bishop Miege vs. St. Joseph Lafayette
Both teams are counting on the return of key players to the line-up and to return to full strength. For Lafayette, the Irish have a trio of players worth keeping an eye on as Lehigh recruit Caleb Bennett returns to the line-up after missing action due to an ankle injury. Along with point guard Diego Bernard and Sterling Hicks, they are one of the better 1-2-3 punches in the KC area.
Miege is coming off a loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday but are a formidable team with depth and talent.
