Jared Ridder (Kickapoo): The 6’8″ Xavier signee has been on a scoring tear during the first half of the season. Ridder is currently averaging 27 points a game in leading the Chiefs to a 7-2 record. He has a 40-point game to his credit against Springfield Central on Dec. 20. Ridder has also topped the 30-point mark three other times.
Jacob Gilyard (Barstow): The 5’10” Richmond signee has added scoring to his already impressive resume as the consummate point guard; plenty of scoring. Gilyard was scoring at about a 35-point clip after the first five games. The highlight-reel game came on Dec. 5 when he scored a career high 50 points in a victory over Washington
Levi Stockard (Vashon): The 6’8″ Kansas State signee has been a force in the paint in leading the Wolverines to a 9-2 record against a national schedule. Stockard is currently averaging 14 points and seven rebounds a game.
Elijah Childs (Lee’s Summit West): The 6’8″ Bradley signee averages a double-double as an interior force on both ends for the No. 1 ranked team in the Kansas City area. Childs has led the Titans to a pair of tournament championships.
Brandon McKissic (SLUH): The 6’3″ UMKC signee is averaging 16.4 points and four rebounds in leading the Jr. Billikens to a 10-4 record, including the championship of the Blue Springs Tournament and runner-up finish at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament. He scored a dramatic game-winner in the final seconds in the semifinals of the CvC Tournament for a 49-48 win over Webster Groves.
Caleb Bennett (St. Joe Lafayette): The 6’5″ Lehigh signee was slowed down by an ankle injury, which forced him to miss several games early in the season. He came back during the holiday season looking strong, including a 29-point performance in a victory over Ruskin in the Neosho Tournament.
Daniel Farris (Vashon): The 5’10” Farris is averaging 12 points a game in leading the Wolverines to a 9-2 record. He scored a game-high 22 points in the Wolverines victory over Miller Grove (GA), which was ranked No. 1 in the country at the time.
Wyatt Yess (Parkway West): The 6’8″ Yale commit is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Longhorns to a 7-3 record. Yess has been excellent this season in leading the ‘Horns to a winning record despite playing with an entire new supporting cast around him.
Isaiah Wilson (Father Tolton): With the departure of five-star recruits Michael and Jontay Porter to the Seattle area, the 6’0″ 2017 guard has stepped up in a big way, averaging 22.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.0 steals a game.
*A few other Class of 2017s who are stepping up big this year are 6’7″ Javonte Perkins (Miller Career Academy), 6’0″ Jaiden Bristol and 6’1″ Matt Austin (both of St. Joe Central), 6’0 Cody Glenn (Lawson) and 6’6″ Christian Bundy (Nixa).
