Top Five Performances
- Tayton Vincent put forth another “Player of the Year” type game leading Sioux Valley with 24 points, nine assists, and six steals in a comeback win over Chester Area. Vincent had a hand in nearly 60 percent of the Sioux Valley offense.
- The other leading Mr. Basketball of South Dakota contender had a big night himself. Mason Archambault scored 32 and made all ten of his foul shots in the victory.
- Josh Mohs lead Brookings to a win over Aberdeen Central by hitting 8 of 10 foul shots, make a pair of threes, and scored his 20 points with three steals and five boards. Mohs put the game away at the free throw line giving his team a one point win.
- Seth Friesz scored his 25 for the Cubs beating MVP by 25 in a key game. The win got his team back into the polls and pretty much showed everyone they are a team that will be a tough out come late in the season.
- Irene-Wakonda knocked off an unbeaten last night (Scotland) led by the 27 points from Tate Gale and the 19 points and 11 assists from Trey King. In what was an anticipated match-up the home team earned a 50-34 halftime leading and then coasted from there.
Top Five Proving Their Spot
- Sioux Valley 78, Chester Area 72. Another tough test, another test passed for Tayton Vincent and company. SDSU committed Trevor Hanson put up 24 points, seven boards, and four blocks. Devin Eppard had a game high 27 in the loss.
- Chamberlain earned themselves a top ten spot by beating 2-loss Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on Monday in a big way (81-56). Tiegen Priebe had 20 in the win.
- So Huron has beat Brookings and RC Stevens but for the second time this year they have lost to Brandon Valley. The Lynx lost to Brookings but if they can beat then in the rematch they have an edge on the resume in that they beat Huron twice.
- The rest of Class went as you would expect: Stevens crushed Douglas, O’Gorman beat Yankton, and Brookings picked up a one point win over Aberdeen Central. Devin Coughlin supported the Mohs 20 with 11 of his own.
- Colman-Egan jumped into the rankings yesterday and then celebrated by beating Estelline 60-30. Malik Poppenga scored 14 to lead the way.
Top Five – Nice Program Win!
- Is Sisseton deserving of being considered a real candidate? They handled Flandreau Indiana by 14 on Monday. They are now 7-2 on the season.
- Sully Buttes beat Winner 50-48 on Monday. That gives the Chargers a 7-1 record and wins over three good teams (Canistota, Miller, and Winner). Jacob Howard had a team high 15.
- Todd County beat Red Cloud 79-76. Looks like the upset of the night!
- Hill City over Spearfish 69-69 and that one point win puts them a game over .500 at 6-5.
- Irene-Wakonda went into last night’s game with undefeated Scotland a game over .500 and came out of if 80-55 winners giving them five straight victories.
Top Five – You Made Your Point!
- Crow Creek improved to 8-3 with a 83-45 win over Miller, it was Miller’s second loss of the year.
- Thomas More over Lead-Deadwood 78-22.
- RC Stevens over Douglas 83-55. Jacob Martin had a 19 and 14 double-double.
- Groton doubled up Ipswich 68-34
- Flandreau over Duel 55-25. Dayln Bakkedal scored 21 to lead the way.
Top Five – Undefeated
- Vermillion is now 11-0 after beating Elk Point Jefferson 52-41. They are they only unbeaten in Class A. The Williams & Plitzuweit Playmaking Firm scored 20 and 22 respectively (Cooper and AJ).
- Langford Area is 10-0. They haven’t played since last Friday when they beat Great Plains Lutheran 60-46.
- Wolsey-Wessington is playing, here and there. They are 6-0 this year and none of the games have been very close.
- Bridgewater-Emery is ranked number one on Class B with a 10-0 record.
- Those are the only four unbeaten after Irene-Wakonda hammered the Highlanders by 225 a night ago.
