Roberson has range from the volleyball line and also has slick handles of the ball. He shoots it at a high volume but is one of the few kids in the state to be averaging 25 points a game.
Coming into the season Roberson did not have any interest but that has changed as coaches from both D2 Ohio Dominican and D3 Albion have contacted him and both have said that they like his shooting ability. This will only continue to grow as he continues to put up points and as he continues to perform at a high level.
Last summer Roberson ran with the Indy Eagles. Roberson felt like his summer was not as good as it could have been because he was moved up from the 16U division to the 17U division.
“They moved me up from 16U to 17U because of my shooting ability. It was hard for me to play with them because I was not used to the speed, athleticism, and the physicality of all the older players.”
During this time Roberson knew he needed to work on specific things in order to be able to compete with the older players and to ready himself for this school season.
“I worked on my ball handling, shooting off the dribble, defense, strength, and my explosion. I am still working on all those things and some.”
Central Christian has started out this season 4-4, but the team is better than their record indicates. In their four losses, three of the teams are a combined 19-4 while the other loss is to a 4A team. Roberson is really excited for this season and is looking forward to many different things about the season. He also can tell that all the work that he put in during the summer is really paying off.
“I am looking forward to sectionals. I think we have a good chance of winning it. I also enjoy playing at Edinburgh. I think personally I am having a great year. I can tell that all the work I put in is paying off”
Roberson will continue to get schools filing in to watch him play. Soon all the D2/D3/NAIA schools in the area will know his name and he does not care whether the school he goes to is inside or outside the state.
“I want to go to a school where I can grow as a person and a basketball player. I also want to go to a school that is serious about academics and does not let the players slip up in the classroom. I know that basketball will not last forever.”
