For Kobe Webster, a 6’0 point guard at Park Tudor, he’s looking for the perfect fit and his interest from the Ivy League seems to be exactly what he is looking for. Since the summer, Webster has been contacted and recruited by Columbia, Cornell, Marist, Dartmouth, and Brown. If he finds the right spot, it is likely going to be one where the education factor is big.
“A couple Ivy League teams have contacted me, Dartmouth and Brown,” Webster said of his current recruiting. “So, definitely interested in those two. We want to keep in contact with them and at some point get out there for a visit. A couple of coaches say they want to get out here for a game or a practice so those are really the two I’m most in contact with.”
This season, he’s as much of a leader as he has ever been, leading a group under a new head coach against a tough schedule so far but has done so to the tune of a 3-1 record. They have already beaten University, Beech Grove, and Cloverdale with their only loss being to one of the best teams in the state in Lawrence North. There have been a slew of challenges but Webster and Park Tudor have been able to handle the pressure so far.
“We are just progressing, everyday in practice, Webster said of his teams development this season. “We are 3-1 right now and definitely wish we could have that Lawrence North game back but moving forward, learning from it, still learning from practices and games still.”
So far this season, Park Tudor is winning with Webster not necessarily being the one to take or make the shots. His efficiency is up but he’s being a leader, finding his teammates, getting the team going, and leading. His assist numbers are up and he looks much more calm under pressure. College programs looking at him should feel great about where he is at, proving that he can give you the offense if you need it, but also being the guy that can play on the ball and distribute.
The decision process isn’t close at this time. He’s still waiting to find that fit but right now, the focus is on the season. They have a game this Saturday against Triton Central and then are off until after Christmas Break where things really get going.
“Probably after the season in the Spring, sometime in that signing period,” Webster said. “If i can find that right fit, so if I can continue to have a good season right here, hopefully some more opportunities will come up and by the spring signing period I will be able to make a decision.”
