An athletic 6-foot-3 guard that threw down a slam dunk on the opening play of a jamboree in Lebanon a few weeks ago, Pritchett is becoming known as both a play making guard, and a shot blocker.
On Monday, Pritchett came from the week side against Belton to thwart a layup attempt with a block above the rim.
“For being a guard I am kinda tall so I like to go inside and try to draw fouls and get to the free throw line,” Pritchett said. “I can also step out and hit a 3 and I like to dish it off to my teammates.”
Pritchett said he focused this past summer on getting to the basket and feeding the Rolla big men as well.
Rolla lost several key seniors from a team that has won 50 games over the past two season and have inserted several new faces into its line-up.
Pritchett served as the team’s sixth man last season, but will be counted on for production and leadership this year.
“We knew we have the ability to be good and be able to make runs and score buckets,” Pritchett said. “We had expectations to be good and we are still hoping to get there, but we still have to work for it.”
Pritchett said he hopes to face Helias and their 2018 point guard Landon Harrison.
“We have played growing up on travel teams and stuff and I would like to see what kind of player he has become,” Pritchett said.
Pritchett said his father has been the biggest influence on his game.
“He has always tried to help me get better all the way through and has always encouraged me and never got down on me,” Pritchett said.
A fan of Lebron James, Pritchett says he tries to implement some of his game into his own.
