After splitting time between varsity and junior varsity last season, Freeman has taken the Ozark Conference by storm this season, averaging 19.5 points and 8 rebounds per game this season. Freeman is a long and athletic 6’6 wing player that can shoot the 3, handle the ball a little and can attack the basket.
“I would say that I am an all-around facilitator and I play within myself,” Freeman said.
Freeman put together a strong summer competing with MoKan Elite 15U, a squad that featured, among others, Columbia Rock Bridge forward Isiah Mosley and others.
“I played with MoKan and they helped make me a better player over the summer,” he said. “We worked on my big man abilities. I am a lot taller than a lot of my opponents and we worked on shooting.”
Hillcrest is off to a 9-3 start as the Hornets return nearly entire varsity roster from a year ago.
“Our expectations are high, we are projected to go far and I feel like we are a good team,” Freeman said.
He said he is looking forward to facing Kickapoo, a team that is currently ranked No. 5 in the latest Class 5 state rankings.
“Everyone wants to play against Kickapoo and Jared Ridder,” Freeman said.
Freeman said he enjoys watching his uncle Anthony Tolliver play. He is currently playing for the Sacramento Kings. Freeman says he hopes to implement Tolliver’s outside shooting abilities into his own game.
“He knows the game and plays hard,” Freeman said. “I know I am capable of working hard and my outside game needs a little more work and I need to be confident in my shot more.”
Freeman does not currently have any offers, but says he has heard from Wake Forest and Missouri State.
