The 6’4” freshman plays for Lafayette Central Catholic and has already made his impact felt this season. Barrett ran with Indiana Ice this past summer on the AAU circuit and has really started coming into his own here in the past few months.
Barrett is the tallest and longest player for Central Catholic and has been in the starting line-up from the get go this season. “We really missed our football guys at the beginning of the season. We are starting to work together better as we get more time.” Central Catholic was without some of their key players to start the season but Barrett took the opportunity to build the other guys on the team and make the best of the games that they had.
Carson is a long and athletic player with great court vision and awareness. His basketball IQ is advanced for a freshman and he uses it to his advantage. “I like to use my length to rebound and push the ball up the floor.” Barrett has the ability to go coast to coast making dribbling moves and having the awareness to find the open man.
Barrett is working on his jump shot so that he can be more of a threat to space the floor. He can get to the basket at will and the lefty is a crafty finisher around the basket. He passes very well in traffic and always seems to make the right play at the right time.
“I want to win state for my dad.” His dad is the head coach for Central Catholic and played collegiately at Purdue. Carson is working on his strength and quickness of the floor to take his game to the next level. His ball handling stood out as one of his strengths early on this season and he is a great passer for a freshman wing player. When Carson is aggressive, it makes Central Catholic a better team on both ends as guys tend to follow his lead.
Barrett is looking to play at the next level and wants a program that has good relationships with their players as well as pushing them to be the best that they can be. Carson will be a guy to keep an eye on as he continues to grow and develop. The young freshman has the skill set to be a great basketball player and if he continues to work on his game, he will be a big-time guy coming out of Lafayette.
Lafayette Central Catholic is at Frankfort tonight and plays Rossville tomorrow night.
