2017
Josh Robinson 6’2″ Perryville: One of the pleasant surprises for me on my travels around the state. This was my first time seeing him play and I was very impressed with his ability to score in different ways plus his overall savvy and style with the basketball. He scored 25 points against a tough Farmington team. He is a smooth lefty who can shoot it, but he also had this shifty moves to the basket to create a shot. I enjoyed watching this kid work.
Chad Meinershagen 6’2″ West County – A very good scorer who can get it done in a lot of different ways. He was saddled with early foul trouble in the loss to Park Hills Central which limited him throughout the evening. He gets to the basket well and he has a nice pull up jumper on the move.
Craig Theiss 6’5″ DeSoto – A versatile power forward who plays with an endless motor every minute of the game. Scored 19 points in a win over West County. He scored well in the post, but he also stepped out and knocked down a couple of 3-pointers. He was also good on the drive, where he is like a bull in the china shop. He’s a standout baseball pitcher, where he is considered an excellent prospect.
Brandon Wagner 6’3″ Park Hills Central: An athletic combo guard who didn’t score a whole lot in his team’s victory against West County, but he did a lot of other things, including guard a very good scorer in Chad Meinershagen very effectively. He is a long, rangy guard who can get to the basket and create problems with his size and length.
2018
Gaven Pinkley 6’8″ Hillsboro – The Division I prospect was a dominant force in a victory over Potosi with 26 points, including an alley-oop slam dunk on the first possession of the game. Pinkley is a mobile, agile big who can score in the post or put the ball on the floor and drive the ball well. He runs the court like a gazelle and routinely beats the guards down the floor. He racked up a number of Division I scholarship offers during the late summer and fall.
Hayden Sprenkel 6’2″ North County – A talented shooting guard who scored 38 points in a loss to DeSoto in the quarterfinals. Sprenkel has tremendous shooting range and he displayed it with five 3-pointers. He also has developed a variety of moves off the dribble to get buckets. Sprenkel sees all kinds of defensive attention, but he has adjusted well by becoming more resourceful on offense.
Brendon Hardy 6’3″ Farmington – A versatile wing player who scored 16 points in a victory over Perryville. Hardy has excellent size and is a tough cover because of his ability to handle the ball, scored on the drive and make perimeter jumpers. Even on a balanced team, he has stretches where he is capable of going on eight to 10 point scoring runs on his own.
