Commentary
This region is notoriously difficult to predict. For the past three years Parshall has received the nod as the favorite and return with one of the most experienced teams in the region. Stanley has the dubious honor of being the favorite this season, but the talent of Wyatt Hanson has solidified confidence with that distinction. Kenmare is the defending champion, but has empty question marks at their fifth starting spot and bench. Hart Andrus is the best scorer in the region (23.2 ppg in 2015-16), but a more well-rounded attack is crucial for North Shore/Plaza to compete.
Dark Horse
Williston Trinity Christian. It may be odd to call a team that finished fourth in the region with an 18-7 record a “dark horse,” but WTC will return with Sr. Beau Skurdahl who was sidelined for almost the entire 2015-16 season after just six games in which he averaged 16ppg/11rpg/3bpg. If Skurdahl can return in similar form then they can be one of the top, if not the top team in the region.
