Commentary
Shiloh is the defending champion in this region and comes in once again as the favorite. Ogbu could feasibly average 15ppg/10rpg/5apg for the Skyhawks, and they will have a depth that the rest of the region just can’t provide. 6’8” sophomore McCauley Young figures to earn playing time for Shiloh this season after averaging a double-double on the JV squad. Wilton-Wing may be able to match the Skyhawks along the front line with similar height, but backcourt play will be an issue. Solen will spread the floor and pour in points; if they get hot they will be able to beat anyone.
Dark Horse
New Salem-Almont. Success in football can translate to one of three things for the following basketball season: continued success, let down, or nagging injuries. If the ND 9-Man State Runners-Up can avoid the last two and carry their success over they will be able to make some serious noise. Sophomore Evan Henke and senior Tanner Slag along with Schroeder create a talented group of athletes that can compete with anyone on any given night.
