MONDAY: Mishawaka vs. Elkhart Christian – 7:30 PM
There aren’t a ton of games on Monday night and this is the best of the bunch. Mishawak is off to a rough start but they came out and beat a solid Elkhart Memorial team in OT to start the year. There should be more to this team than the 1-3 record because those three losses came to Goshen, Valparaiso, and South Bend Riley. Elkhart Christian is in the same boat, having a 2-2 record and losses to pretty good teams. This will be a better win for one of these two teams when they look back later in the year because the front half of their schedule has been brutal.
TUESDAY: Indianapolis Scecina vs. Indianapolis Roncalli – 8:00 PM
Scecina has had a big start to the season with a pair of last second shots to help push them to a 4-1 start. They are small though, and really lack and post help, which will come into play against Roncalli. Roncalli isn’t terribly big but has a couple inches at each spot on the floor along with a 6’9 post. Oh, and they can play fast and against athletes so Scecina’s biggest strength could be minimized.
WEDNESDAY: Greenfield-Central vs. Broad Ripple – 7:30 PM
Greenfield-Central is off to a solid start but Broad Ripple will provide the biggest test of the season so far. Broad Ripple is an under-the-radar team for now but they have a ton of size and talent and could be a contender in 2A that some haven’t yet talked about.
THURSDAY: LaPorte La Lumiere vs. New Albany – 7:00 PM
New Albany might have just had their first big “come back down to earth” moment but that doesn’t mean this team isn’t still capable of winning out the rest of the season. La Lumiere is a national power and has as much talent and more than North Central did. It could be difficult but look for New Albany to bounce back a bit and provide a close game.
FRIDAY: Fort Wayne Snider vs. Fort Wayne North – 7:30 PM
Coming off of a loss to HSE, Snider showed that it has more pieces and depth than most in the state thought. Now, they will take on Fort Wayne North, a team that will match them punch for punch. Want to also look and see if North falters or is this a team that can be this good every night out.
SATURDAY: Warsaw vs. Crown Point – 8:00 PM
While there are quite a few games on tap Saturday, this matchup could provide one of the best answers of the season as well as an interesting storyline in style of play. Warsaw hasn’t really proven how good they are yet but Crown Point is their first big test of the season. Also, Warsaw loves that slowed down tempo, a style of play which I think Crown Point can match. Expecting a very close game in this one.
