CBC at Chaminade, 7 p.m. – A key Metro Catholic Conference showdown between two talented and young teams with a early league win under its belt. Chaminade defeated SLUH in its MCC opener while CBC defeated DeSmet. Lots of talented underclassmen on display in this game. Prediction: Chaminade.
Bolivar at Helias, 7 p.m. – An excellent matchup between two Class 4 programs that have tasted Final Four success in the past three seasons. Bolivar has an excellent post player in 6’6″ 2017 Brandon Emmert and 2017 point guard Conley Garrison. Helias has an excellent post player of its own in 2018 Landon Harrison and a good 6’6″ post in 2018 Nathan Bax. Prediction: Helias
Lee’s Summit West vs. Blue Valley NW, Saturday, 6 p.m. – One of the featured games of the Hy Vee Shootout. Lee’s Summit West won a big tournament in Arkansas last weekend, defeated Kickapoo in the championship game. Blue Valley NW had an equally big win last week when it upended Vashon in the Ozark Mountain Shootout. It should be a high-level matchup full of Division I talent. Prediction: Lee’s Summit West
Liberty North at Grandview, 7 p.m. – Both teams are off to an excellent start with only one loss each to teams that are still undefeated. Liberty North was the runner-up at its own tournament while Grandview won the Blue Valley Tournament. They feature a Division I level guard in 6’4″ 2018 Jordan Lathon. Prediction: Grandview
Vashon at Miller Career Academy, 6 p.m. – A big Public High League matchup in St. Louis between its two top games. Vashon has entered the national rankings with some big early-season wins with its senior duo of 5’11” Daniel Farris and 6’8″ Levi Stockard. Career Academy has been led by excellent 6’6″ 2017 Javonte Perkins, who came up huge in the Phoenix’ upset of Rock Bridge last week. Prediction: Vashon
Malden at Scott County Central, 7 p.m. – This is a rematch from the championship game of the Oran Invitational Tournament, which was won by Scott County Central. Both teams like to get up and down the court in an up-tempo game. Malden is led by 2017 guard Tyler Ison while Scott County features versatile 6’2″ 2017 Deantrell Beard. Prediction: Scott County Central
Sacred Heart at Lincoln, 7 p.m. – An excellent small-school matchup between Kaysinger League foes. Sacred Heart features a strong point guard in 2018 Trent Lyles and forwards Micah Tanguay and Colby Young. Lincoln is small, but very fast and athletic with balanced scoring. 2017 guard Boone Kronke averages 16 points a game to lead four Cardinals’ players who score in double figures. Prediction: Sacred Heart
Hartville vs. Hazelwood Central, 8:30 p.m. – A very unique matchup that will take place at the Route 66 Shootout in Waynesville. Hartville is a Class 2 powerhouse that is coming off a state championship while Hazelwood Central is one of the top Class 5 programs around. Both teams feature a lot of talented guards, so expect a lot of offense. Prediction: Hazelwood Central
