SLUH led 29-28 at halftime, but Chaminade picked up the tempo with a full-court press and scored 25 points in the third quarter to take control of the game. In the end, Chaminade’s depth proved to be the difference as coach Frank Bennett made liberal use of 10 players and they all contributed to the victory.

10 Best
MVP: Marin Vrucinic (Chaminade): The 6’6″ senior from Croatia emerged as the game’s MVP after scoring a team-high 15 points. With a few of his key teammates in foul trouble or struggling offensively, Vrucinic came through with a big 10-point third quarter that helped the Red Devils turn a one-point halftime deficit into an eight point lead and control of the game. The smooth lefty can shoot the 3-pointer, but he got a lot of business done with some nice drives to the bucket.
Best Offensive Player: Brandon McKissic (SLUH): Th2 6’2″ UMKC signee scored a game-high 20 points for the Jr. Bills. McKissic was tough to stop off the dribble, especially when he gets a full head of steam from the backcourt. He attacks the basket with great vigor and converted a number of mid-range jumpers.
Best Defensive Player: Reginald Crawford (Chaminade) – The 6’4″ 2017 missed the Webster Classic over the weekend because he was on an official football visit to New Mexico. He was back in the lineup on Monday and so was the toughness, athleticism and defensive prowess that he brings to the team. He also scored 11 points.
Best Shooter: Anthony Hughes (SLUH) – One of the most improved players in the area, the 6’4 2017 guard matched McKissic’s team-high 20 points, which included four 3-pointers. Hughes is a fine athlete who can slash to the bucket, but the long distance stroke was working well for him on Monday night.
Best Rebounder: Matt Leritz (SLUH): The 6’6″ 2018 Stretch 4 scored 11 points, but he was a rebound-hog on Monday night as he collected 14 boards. He is turning into quite the double-double guy performer
Best Passer: Jadis White (Chaminade): The 6’1″ 2018 point guard is a pass-first facilitator who does a nice job of keeping the ball moving and dropping dimes in transition.
Play of the Game: Late in the fourth quarter, Chaminade’s Karrington Davis pushed the ball down the left side and hit teammate Jericole Hellems in full stride for a resounding two-handed slam dunk that pretty much put the game on ice for the Red Devils. Hellems finished with 14 points.
Best Transition Player: Karrington Davis (Chaminade) – The 6’6″ 2018 wing player scored 13 points despite battling foul trouble. He is a very talented offensive player, but he did much of his work on Monday night filling the lanes and getting buckets on the fast break. He ran the court with speed and grace and finished with ease.
Best Young Prospect (2019, 2020): Luke Kasubke (Chaminade) – The athletic 6’5″ 2020 wing player came off the bench to score five points. Kasubke has ideal size, athleticism and a nice stroke from 3-point range. He is already starting to make a positive impact as a freshman.
