Nate Spurlock was without question a difference maker in this game. The 6’7 forward was extremely active defensively, where he altered and blocked several shots while making sure his team secured almost every defensive rebound.
BEST PLAY | SIMON MULAA | WTW ’17
Simon Mulaa intercepted a pass late in the third quarter, then raced to the other end of the court for a two-handed dunk. This play gave the Cavaliers, who led by single digits at the time, plenty of momentum heading into the final frame.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | JASON AIGNER | WTW ’17
Jason Aigner caught fire in the second half. The unsigned senior guard scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, including three 3-pointers.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | NATE SPURLOCK | WTW ’18
Spurlock was an absolute beast defensively. He was effective hedging, switching, and defending ball-screens. The 6’7 junior also swatted a game-high 6 shots while altering many others.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | DAVID PROMISEL | WTW ’17
Some contributions might not end up in the stat sheet, but David Promisel was excellent in this game, particularly on defense. Promisel actively shadowed Evan Buckley and did well to keep up both on and off the ball. Promisel also dished out 3 assists & grabbed 3 rebounds while committing just one turnover.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | BRIAN PEIRCE | WTW ’17
Brian Peirce came in and did what he does best. The senior guard tied for the team lead with 13 points. Peirce was crafty around the basket and showcased good touch & body control when finishing in traffic.
BEST REBOUNDER | NATE SPURLOCK | WTW ’18
Spurlock recorded a game-high 16 rebounds. 13 came on the defensive end.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | EVAN BUCKLEY | STONE BRIDGE ’19
Evan Buckley was the focal point of Stone Bridge’s offense. The sophomore floor general scored a team-high 15 points while dishing out 3 assists and swiping 2 steals.
BEST INTANGIBLES | JASON AIGNER | WTW ’17
Aigner is a high IQ basketball player who as we saw tonight, can impact the game on both ends of the floor. Aigner swiped a team-high 4 steals.
BEST PASSER | EVAN BUCKLEY | STONE BRIDGE ’19
Buckley quite clearly loves setting up others for easy looks. His assist totals weren’t quite staggering tonight, but his team shot 22% from the field.
