Clemson commit Aamir Simms impacted this game in so many ways on both ends of the floor. Simms exhibited a tremendous feel for the game along with improved touch from the perimeter. He recorded a double-double for the Barons.
BEST PLAY | DARIUS MCGHEE | BLUE RIDGE ’18
Darius McGhee found the hot hand in the second half. The athletic lead guard slammed home a 2 hand dunk in the third quarter. This play energized the whole team.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | DARIUS MCGHEE | BLUE RIDGE ’18
We mentioned Darius McGhee’s hot second half, where he scored 15 of his 20 points. McGhee is extremely crafty and can get his shot off quickly with little space.

Simms blocked two shots and altered several others. He consistently communicated and showed good fundamentals when boxing out.

Myles Jones scored 6 points off the bench for Blue Ridge. The junior guard plays with incredible effort and moves well off the ball.
BEST REBOUNDER | AAMIR SIMMS | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Simms secured a game-high 14 boards. The strong 6’8 forward consistently crashed the offensive boards where he was a menace.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | XAVIER JOHNSON | EPISCOPAL ’19
Xavier Johnson had some nice moments on both ends in this game. He shrewdly anticipates passing lanes and uses his length to disrupt opposing ball-handlers.
BEST INTANGIBLES | JOSH COLON | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Unsigned senior Josh Colon has been rock solid for the Barons in this tournament. He is a reliable playmaker with the ability to shoot from the perimeter and get in the lane and create havoc. Colon is also an alert defender.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
Blue Ridge improves to 7-0 after this win. We will be in the gym tomorrow to see if they can improve to 8-0 and capture the championship.
