The Headliner, Minot hosting GFRR. Are the Rough Riders ready to take advantage of all the talent they have? Is Minot going to burst out of the gates with a big win in their quest to three-peat? The six o’clock Saturday tip is likely to be attended by all basketball die hards in the general area. Watching KyJuan Johnson vs Mark Toe, Justin Engg vs Austin Slaughter will be excellent. Is Jordan Polynice ready for the big year expected? Will Minot have the depth stepping forward needed? A great Class A year will be great from day one.
Mandan at Bismarck Century. Lots of new faces in big roles will be on the floor for Century so if Mandan was ever to get the Patriots this would be the time. The Stecklers of course return for Mandan so the main weapons for the Braves will continue to take the big shots. On the other side, Kade Amundson and Josh Sipes now have much bigger expectations. Upset? Maybe not but this would be the time.
How many on night one? How many points does Aanen Moody explode for in the opener? How many shots does Jordan Meidinger block on night one? Does this sound like a lot of pressure? It is but all eyes are on the Midget pair as they are the D1 signed players in the state and expectations are high.
The Sleeper. Devils Lake at West Fargo may actually be the best game of the night from start to finish. Expectations are high for the Firebirds as this is the year they’ve pointed to for many seasons. West Fargo will be a fantastic first test.
Others. Jamestown is putting on a completely new varsity group while Legacy finally has some seniors to use. Williston and Turtle Mountain don’t have high expectations, a win on Friday night would be nice. Turtle Mountain has a great chance to start the season 2-0 as they get Williston and Grand Forks Central back to back to begin the year.
