Below is our breakdown of the biggest stock boosters and possible breakout performers in the class. Jahdon Robinson | 6’5” WF | LC Bird (#42 Overall)
He’s bouncy, versatile and completely under the radar to college coaches. Robinson played sparingly last season for Bird who fell just short in the state championship, and while he likely won’t start this year with four of their five starters returning, but he’ll see a huge uptick in minutes. His best attribute is his size and athleticism that allows him to guard multiple positions defensively, rebound well for a wing and finish above the rim in transition. If he can continue to fine tune his handle and jump shot, Robinson will emerge as more than a sleeper come his senior season.
Kameron Harris | 6’0” WG | Amelia Academy (#48 Overall)
He may not be a true point guard, but Harris is a consistent producer at the two guard spot. He can hit open shots off the catch, plays his tail off on both ends of the floor and is an intense competitor. His athleticism and strength negates his size somewhat and allows him to play much bigger than he is. With a new group at Amelia Academy, he’ll need to stuff the stat sheet and be a leader if they want to get back to the state championship again.
Bassirou Diop | 6’8” C | Bayside (#64 Overall)
He’s still extremely raw, but his potential is through the roof. Diop is a massive big man that has great length and bounce, and loves to show it off. He finishes above the rim, cleans the glass on both ends of the floor and is one of the premier shot blockers in the 757. He’s great in transition, where he’s able to run with guards and has the hands to catch on the run or clean up the offensive glass. If he can continue to build on the great summer he had, Diop should see his stock continue to increase.
Robbie Beran | 6’6” PF | JR Tucker (#79 Overall)
A scrappy, long and defensive minded big man, Beran would be the perfect role player on a winning team, but instead he’s a go-to guy on a subpar one. Last season JR Tucker really struggled, and it doesn’t look like it will get much better moving forward, but Beran had a great summer with Team Richmond that made us take notice. He’s a force on the glass, defends with intensity, runs the floor in transition and does the dirty work in the paint. As frustrating as losing is, they have something to build around in Beran who has the perfect attitude to set the tone for a program.
Demariyea Sills | 5’8” PG | Gloucester (#87 Overall)
Forget his height, because Sills can fill it up with the best of them. The lefty scoring guard is an assassin off the bounce, and he’s not afraid to let it fly from anywhere on the court. He reads pick-and-rolls well, has a quick first step, can shoot it from deep and in the midrange off the bounce and he’s deceptively strong when finishing in the lane. He’ll likely be one of the top scorers in the area for Gloucester this season.
Kalib Carter | 6’3” WG | Colgan (#97 Overall)
We’re expecting a huge season from Carter, who will likely be the best and most experienced player at the new school in Prince William County. He has good size and length at 6’3” for a guard, and he can score it from all three levels off the bounce. He’s also a versatile defender, and he’ll likely have to play multiple positions this year for them. He’ll be asked to do a lot, but expect him to put up big time numbers this season.
