Vashon: The state champions are loaded for another title run with the return of a veteran cast, led by 5’11” senior guard Daniel “Peanut” Farris, 6’8″ senior Kansas State signee Levi Stockard, 6’3″ senior Koray Gilbert and 6’0″ sophomore Mario McKinney.
Sikeston: The Bulldogs finished fourth in the state tournament a year ago. All-State junior forward Fred Thatch, Jr. returns to lead a very young and talented crew, which also includes 5’10” sophomore Kevin Jones and 6’6″ sophomore Trey Jenkins.
St. Joe Lafayette: The Fighting Irish return several key players from last year’s state runner-up team, led by 6’5′ senior Caleb Bennett, a Lehigh signee. Lafayette also returns 6’2″ senior wing Sterling Hicks and 5’9″ junior guard Diego Bernard.
St. Mary’s: The Dragons are an up and coming power which won 21 games and a conference title a year ago. They return 6’6″ junior Yahuza Rasas, 6’2″ junior Tony Burks and 5’10” sophomore point guard Yuri Collins. Junior Dominic Mitchell comes in as a transfer from MICDS.
Grandview: The Bulldogs return a talented crew led by 6’4″ junior Jordan Lathon, who has several Division I offers on the table. They also return 6’3″ junior Mason Taylor, 6’2″ senior Tremaine Banks and 6’4″ junior Cartez Crook-Jones.
Lincoln Prep: The Blue Tigers return one of the state’s top guards in 6’2″ senior Steve Dulley, who is multi-talented and a Division I prospect.
Bolivar: The Liberators have one of the state’s top post players in 6’6″ senior Brandon Emmert, a Central Missoui signee. Point guard Conley Garrison also returns for his third year as a starter. Bolivar finished fourth in the state tournament in 2015 with these two leading the way.
Raytown South: The Cardinals advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament a year ago. They return talented 6’6″ junior forward Savon Witt and 5’11” senior guard Tyree Sorrells.
Hillsboro: The Hawks were the champions of the Jefferson County Conference in 2016. They return one of the state’s top juniors in 6’8″ Gaven Pinkley to lead a strong returning cast.
Rolla: The Bulldogs will have many new faces, but they will still be one of the top shooting teams in the state. Their top returnees are junior Josh Pritchett and senior Nick Janke.
MICDS: The Rams won 18 games and the Metro League title a year ago. They return a talented trio of perimeter players in 6’5″ seniors Alec Spence and Matt Roper and 6’2″ junior point guard Austin Thompson.
Pacific: The Indians return 6’4″ junior All-State guard Cameron Van Leer, who led his team to the Four Rivers Conference title. Senior guard Jacob Klenke is an excellent perimeter shooter and a four-year varsity veteran.
Parkway Central: The Colts are in Class 4 after playing for a Class 5 district championship a year ago. They are led by 5’10” junior guard DeAndre Campbell, who can score in bunches. Junior forward Arther Green is a 6’3″ athlete who can rebound.
Borgia: The Knights added another district championship to their trophy case in 2016. They are led by 6’7″ senior Alex Movilla, who was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder.
Cape Notre Dame: The Bulldogs return an excellent inside-outside duo in 6’4″ junior Dawson Dohogne and 5’11” senior Blake Bauwens. Dohogne is a fine low-post scorer while Bauwens is a 3-point shooter supreme.
