Advance: The Hornets are loaded with several players who were part of their Final Four team two seasons ago. Advance is led by 6’0″ senior guard Preston Wuebker, 6’4″ senior forward Dawson Mayo and 5’11” junior guard Armani Vermillion.
Glasgow: The Yellowjackets advanced to the Final Four last season and return several key players, including 6’4″ senior forward Kennedy Davis, 6’0″ senior guard Hayden Hackman and 6’4″ senior Adam Monnig.
Scott County Central: The Braves are perennial contenders in Class 1. They will be led this season by versatile 6’2″ senior Deantrell Beard and quick 5’7″ point guard Titus Fields.
Eminence: The Redwings emerged with a district championship last season. They have one of the state’s top young Class 1 players in 6’6″ forward Trent McBride. Also back are 6’0″ senior Ethan Dirk and juniors Kyndall Copeland and Grant Dyer.
Walnut Grove: The Warriors advanced all the way to the state-championship game a year ago where they finished second. They return junior sharpshooter Logan Thomazin who has already surpassed the 1,000-point mark.
Winston: The Redbirds have won 56 games in the past two seasons with one Final Four appearance. They will be led once again by 5’9″ senior point guard Craig Lewis, who will be a four-year starter.
Mercer: The Cardinals advanced to the state quarterfinals a year ago, where they were a buzzer-beater away from the Final Four. They return two of their top players in 6’2″ senior Cashman Hartley and 5’11” senior Bryer Noe.
Otterville: A district champion from 2016, Otterville features one of the top offensive players in Class 1 in 6’2″ senior Jake Neal, who averaged 27 points a game. He scored 56 points in a game last season.
Wellsville-Middletown: The Tigers won a district championship last season. They return two All-District players in senior Jacob Ussery and junior Adam Maylee.
North Andrew: The Cardinals won a district championship last season. They return their top player in 6’2″ junior Jacob Powelson, who was an All-District selection in 2016.
Prairie Home: The Panthers are a very small school with two very big scoring threats in Creed Flood and Ross Kendrick, who both averaged more than 20 points a game last season.
