Abel is well known for his shooting but he is also a solid rebounder and can consistently hit midrange jumpers in transition. Abel likes to push the ball up the floor and this helps him create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Abel has just one offer to this point from Midway University but he has visited numerous schools over the last few years. Abel has visited Bethel, Goshen, Grace, Indiana Wesleyan, Midway, Olivet, and Taylor so far with many more visits to come over the winter months including one planned to Holy Cross.
This summer Abel thought that his stock could have risen a lot more than it did but a couple injuries plagued his AAU season. He tore his hamstring in the spring and then as he returned he rolled his ankle which took him out for a few weeks.
The college coaches still can see some attributes that are attractive enough in his game though as most coaches have agreed that Abel’s jumper is a key part of his recruitment.
“They like my elevation and consistency of my jump shot, my aggressiveness, my defense, and my versatility on the court to play more than one position.”
This summer before his injury Abel worked on his defense so that he can be the guy to lock up the opposing team’s best player. He also says that he will continue to work on getting stronger and working on his ball handling.
For the upcoming season with Indian Creek Abel is looking forward to many things including the ability to put on a show for his hometown crowd.
“I am looking forward to getting the opportunity to showcase my school team and show everyone in the town how much talent we have on the floor this year.”
Abel wants to study business at his future school and wants to play for a team that values his worth. He wants to be surrounded by great young men on and off the court. Abel is looking for a school that sees more than just a basketball player.
