Currently Ohio’s 23rd-ranked 2019, Columbus Northland 6-foot-2 guard William Mfum has a long way to go to achieve his goal of being a high-major prospect, but he knows it’s a process. Right now the talented floor general is seeing some initial low to mid-major interest come his way, he’s hoping that shifts to higher level interest by this time next year. “I’m being recruited by Cleveland State hard. And then Bethune-Cookman, Ohio University, Holy Cross and Bowling Green. It’s all letters so far,” said Mfum.“I’m hoping I become a high-major prospect. My dream is to go to a school like NC State, Michigan, or North Carolina. I know that doesn't come easy, so I’m just going to work hard and know it’s a process.”Mfum was quick to mention one fiery NBA superstar when defining his own set of skills. “My game is hard-ball. I compare my game and I study from Russell Westbrook, so I’m always trying to attack the hoop before anything else,” he said. ‘“I’ve been working to improve my shot more, and I have a consistent mid-range game now. And now if I drive, I can stop on a dime and just shoot.”The sophomore point guard's first game with the Vikings is this Saturday. Mfum says his primary role is to get the ball to senior playmakers. “Since I’m a sophomore and we have several seniors on our team, I’m just worried about getting them the ball this season. And maybe next season and my senior season I’ll be a primary scorer,” said Mfum.“My coach is holding me accountable to share the ball and just score when I need to.”
