Torrence Watson 6’4″ Whitfield (2018): The talented wing player scored a game-high 31 points to lead Whitfield to a 49-39 victory over upset-minded Hazelwood East. Watson was most successful when he was attacking the basket as he got several buckets and got himself to the free throw line. With his team off to slow start, he scored 20 of his team’s 24 points in the first half with Saint Louis U. head coach Travis Ford in the house to watch him.
Richard Henderson 6’6″ Pattonville (2017): The athletic post player dominated in the Pirates first-round win over University City with 22 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. Henderson was a missle in the paint as he finished strong and gave us several big dunks. He plays with a high motor on both ends and impacts the game with his strength and athleticism.
Destan Williams 5’9″ Pattonville (2017): The talented point guard put on a show against U. City in the Pirates’ first-round win with a game-high 27 points. Williams plays at a fast pace and has the ability to score at all three levels. Ricky Gwynn 5’9″ Maplewood (2018): The small point guard scored a game-high 26 points in the Blue Devils’ 75-69 triple-overtime victory over Trinity in the first round. Gwynn has the float game down pat as he running floaters from as far as 10 feet and could bank them in as well. He has a nice change of pace game when he can freeze defenders, then get by them to the basket. Very crafty.
Cyrus Alexander 6’5″ Whitfield (2019): The athletic forward scored nine points in Whitfield’s victory over Hazelwood East. He is a high-motor kid who plays with a lot of athleticism and activity around the basket. He also gets out and runs the court well.
Nathan Wilson 6’7″ Hazelwood East (2017): A slender post player who did a nice job in the lane in the Spartans’ loss to Whitfield. He scored on offensive put backs and was a defensive presence in the lane with his length and athletic ability.
Amorey Womack 6’0″ Maplewood (2019): Strong bodied combo guard who scored 14 points in the Blue Devils’ victory over Trinity. He did a nice job of getting to the basket in iso’s and finishing at the rim through contact. He is strong physically and handled the ball with confidence.
Rashad Weekly 5’9″ Trinity (2020): A strong, physical young guard who scored 15 points in his high school debut. Rashad has a compact body what plays well through contact. He handled the ball well and displayed the ability to score, especially when getting to the basket. He also knocked down a 3-pointer off the dribble.
Ryan Kalkbrenner 6’7″ Trinity (2020): A very capable young post player who did a nice job in his first varsity game with nine points and five blocks. He displayed some nice skills with his ability to shoot from 15 feet and put the ball on the floor off the pump fake. He has a nice future as he continues to gain physical strength.
T.J. Rush 5’11” Trinity (2020): The third of Trinity’s fine freshman trio also showed well in his varsity debut with 16 points. Rush was at his best in the transition game when he could get out and attack the basket. He scored on several coast to coast drives, especially late in the game when both teams were physically tired from the multiple overtimes.
