Monday: Lake Central (0-0) vs. Andrean (0-0) @ 8:00 PM ET
Last season, Lake Central went 13-12 while Andrean went 9-15. Both teams struggled most of the season but these are two of the better programs from the Region. Then, this offseason, both teams really got hurt by departures whether from transfer or graduation. Now, in the first game of the season, both teams have the opportunity to get things started back in the direction they have been in.
Tuesday: Zionsville vs. Carmel @ 7:30 PM ET
Two of the best teams in the state in 4A matchup for their first game of the season on Tuesday night in Carmel. Zionsville lost this matchup last year 57-53 but debuted their talented then-freshman Isaiah Thompson. Now, there won’t be a freshman that is looking to come out of nowhere but these two teams are stacked with players all up and down their roster. It is expected to be a close game yet again.
Wednesday: Huntington North vs. Homestead @ 7:30 PM ET
Last season, Huntington North and Homestead were both a bit of a surprise in the state. Nobody knew who was on Huntington at the time by you soon heard the names of Hunter Hollowell and Chazz Bruce. Same was said about Homestead. Everyone knew of Tahj Curry from the year before and their big run in the playoffs with Caleb Swanigan. But know they have a trio of seniors ready to take this team forward. With expectations, how do both teams do in an early season matchup with two of the northeast’s best.
Thursday: No Games-Thanksgiving
Friday: Greenwood vs. New Castle @ 7:30 PM ET
If you want a look at some potential breakout teams this season, this Greenwood and New Castle game is going to be fun. Greenwood is made up of a ton of Juniors, talented players that can shoot the ball and make it entertaining to watch. New Castle showed themselves off last year and they are ready for more as they are built around their underclassmen. These will both be good teams not only this year, but for the next few years.
Saturday: Bloomington South vs. New Albany @ 7:30 PM ET
Well, when looking at the best games of the first week, hard to find one better than a rematch of that epic overtime game between Bloomington South and New Albany last year at Seymour Regional Semifinal. New Albany walked away with a 73-66 win and ended up going the distance to capture a state title. Bloomington South will be looking for revenge and have plenty of pieces on their roster to make it a fair fight. Will be a good one.
