They finally hit a long ball in the second half, which was half of their second half output. Cascade only allowed six points in the second half as they won easily, 51-19.
Leading scorers: Delphi: Cade Murray 6. Cascade: Dalton DuBois 15, Evan Burch 14, Alec Alderson 13.
Leading rebounders: Delphi: Cade Murray 5, Garrett Tomson 5. Cascade: Dalton DuBois 9.
MVP: Dalton DuBois (Cascade)
Dalton was great at powering his way to the rim. He really made his presence known with his athleticism and his rebounding. Delphi did not really have anyone to match up with him in terms of scoring.
Best offensive performance: Evan Burch (Cascade)
Burch hit a few shots but I mainly thought his passing really opened up the floor. He made a few passes in traffic and found the right guys every time down the floor. Burch showed a lot of improvement as a court general from last year.
Best defensive performance: Alec Alderson (Cascade)
Alderson had some really quick hands today forcing multiple deflections and getting four steals. He was a hassle on defense and frustrated Delphi a lot. He was impressive to say the least.
Best under-the-radar performance: Garrett Tomson (Delphi)
Tomson was solid on the boards for Delphi. He really got after it and played big and strong today. Just a sophomore but he can grow a bit more and be a really solid kid if his offense grows.
Best guy off the bench: Dillion Compliment (Cascade)
Compliment came off the bench and made a quick impact taking a charge on the first trip down the floor. He made some nice passes on the offensive end and played well in his role. Small, thick guard but he can play a bit.
Plays of the game: Cascade’s defense in the third quarter
Cascade really buckled down and closed out on Delphi’s shooters when they looked to get back into the game. It was impressive only allowing two points to the Delphi team.
Best intangibles: Ross Stephenson (Cascade)
Stephenson is a small, solid forward who really led the team. He played with high energy the entire game. Stephenson did a lot of the dirty work for Cascade down and play bigger than his size.
Best underclassman: Benson Walker (Cascade)
Walker came off the bench and was intriguing. Plays big and is really long. Can grow a bit more as well. He looks to score in the post and is a plus passer out of the post. Can run the floor in transition well as a 6’6 sophomore.
Best Passer: Evan Burch (Cascade)
Burch has great court vision and really is a great guard on a team that relies on ball movement. He is solid in the half-court leading the team and that translates to his passing
Best Takeaway: Cascade is a solid team with a few scorers but you can’t really tell much in a game like this. Delphi is quick but lacks the skill to make games competitive.
Scouting
Dalton DuBois (Cascade) – 2018 6’5 F – DuBois was really impressive he plays with a lot of heart and energy. Strong kid with a really good knack for rebounding. Decent jumper as well from the midrange.
Benson Walker (Cascade) – 2019 6’6 F – Walker is a tall kid with a thin frame but could grow up to 2-3 more inches. He looks to score when he gets the ball and has a few nice moves, did not finish but that will come.
Cade Murray (Delphi) – 2018 6’5 G – A bright spot on Delphi. He crashes the boards really hard and goes all out every play. He has a nice looking shot but needs to look to drive a bit more because he could assert his will on opponents.
