Recruiting Report: Jamal Harris (2018)
Indianapolis Attucks was very good last year with a 19-6 record and a run to the sectional championship. This year they will be much better only losing one key contributor while gaining two more. One of those is Jamal Harris, a 6’2 guard who can shoot the ball and create off the dribble very well.
These qualities have led to offers from Ball State, Kent State, Indiana State, New Orleans, Toledo, and Western Illinois. Harris has visited Bradley, Illinois State, IU, Indiana State, Purdue, and Western Illinois and he plans to visit Evansville, IPFW, Kent State, Louisville, Loyola, Ohio University, and Toledo.
The 15th ranked junior in the state has been gaining a lot of interest and during this season the interest will only just keep rolling in. This summer running with the Indy Hoosiers he played great and made some big strides in his game. Although his team did not quite reach his goal he felt it went great for himself.
Coaches have been swarming to Harris and this is due to some pertinent qualities that are in his game that will stick at the next level. That next level in two years will be a division one school.
“The coaches like my athleticism, they like how I have a quick first step and how I can get to the bucket easily and that my jump shot has came a long way.”
Even though Harris gives people skills to drool over, he is still working hard to work on his game. This summer Harris said that he worked on his jump shot and his ball handling the most but has also worked on every aspect of his game to improve for the upcoming year.
This upcoming year Attucks has many goals as a team and with many highly touted players they should be well on their way to reaching their goals. Harris is looking forward to trying to accomplish high goals this year for their team.
“I am looking forward to playing with my teammates because I did not get to last year. We want to win city and then win state.”
Harris is sure to have many options for a college and his choice is even going to get harder as more colleges see him this upcoming year.
“I want top notch academics and school with a coaching staff that will help me on and off the court. Athletics wise I am looking for a school that will let me play my game.”
