The younger brother of former Bolivar and Missouri State Lady Bear Casey Garrison and former Bolivar standout Coday Garrison, Conley Garrison says he describes himself as a good teammate and a knowledgeable player.
“I love winning and try to do my best to put my team and teammates in the best position to win,” he said.
A standout 3-point shooter, Garrison said he retooled his jumper in the offseason and has been focused on getting bigger and stronger.
“I changed my shot from a set shot to a jump shot and I’ve been focused on gaining weight in the weight room,” he said.
Garrison and recent Central Missouri commit Brandon Emmert figure to form one of the state’s premier inside-outside tandems and are poised for a big senior sesaon.
“I expect us to get better every day and play with tremendous effort each game,” Garrison said. “That’s all you can ask for.”
After advancing to the Final Four two years ago and winning a district title last season, Bolivar appears poised for another big run under head coach Robbie Hoegh.
“Coach Hoegh here at Bolivar is the best coach I could ask for,” Garrison said. “The guy is always giving me a new book to read or a play he wants my opinion on. Hoegh has taught me so much about the game and he’s a winner. I love playing for the guy and I’m sad I only get to for one more year.”
Garrison, who has started to draw interest from several colleges, including William Jewell among others, says he enjoys watching the Warriors’ Klay Thompson.
“Thompson is always moving on offense and gives 100 percent on the defensive end,” Garrison said. “I try to keep both of those principles in my head when playing. Keep moving and play hard.”
