Continue ReadingCameron Simmons is a strong and versatile 6’3” combo guard in the Class of 2017. He is anticipating having a strong senior season at Traders Point Christian. Simmons played this summer with Indiana Faith 2017 Black where he had a tremendous summer scoring the ball and improving upon his weaknesses. He is poised for a solid senior season.
Simmons had this to say about his summer session with Indiana Faith 2017 Black, “I scored by pushing the ball up the floor. I was finishing my lay ups and hitting my mid-range jump shots. I am trying to become a better shooter that will make my game better.” His length allows him to finish in the lane and he has a consistent mid-range jump shot.
Simmons wants to find a college or university that plays competitive basketball and has a good atmosphere around the program. He wants to play at the highest level that his talents will take him. He is looking for a good program that will push him to continually improve his game and that will allow him to pursue his studies towards becoming a physical therapist.
Cameron has seen his recruiting take off here recently. He has been receiving interest from Saint Joseph’s College, Kentucky State, Clark Atlanta University, IUPUI and Kentucky Wesleyan. Simmons wants to get to know everything about the program, college, and coaching staff that he can so he can make an informed decision when he begins to receive offers.
Not only has Simmons been working on his weaknesses, he has also been trying to polish the rest of his game before the season rolls around. “I need to improve on being a lock-down defender, being vocal, and being a consistent long-range shooter”. Simmons understands what he needs to take his game to the next level and doing everything he can to make sure he maxes out his potential.
Traders Point Christian is still ineligible for the IHSAA post-season but Simmons has other goals in mind for his senior season. He wants to compete for the scoring title and be one of the leading rebounders in the state for guards. He wants to lead his team by example and have a successful senior season.
Simmons is just starting to understand his full potential and will a guard to watch in the 2017 Class. He has his eye’s set for a strong season with Traders Point Christian and wants to find the right fit for a college program.
