The 6-foot-5, 230 pound Eppard is a different kind of talent. He has skill and size so he can do some things inside and out.
“I had a great summer, it was one of the most productive summers I have had,” Eppard explained. “I was in the gym at least six days a week lifting and doing basketball drills.”
Eppard played with PBC Knippling squad that won 11 of their 25 games a year ago. He’s a non stop type of guy who loves to compete and that’s why he’s done everything he can to try and win.
“Our main goal for this year is to win a state championship but we have other goals that we have to reach before we can do that,” Austin told PHD.
“The goals include win the Big East conference title, win regions and districts, and then our three games at state if we are honored enough to make it there but to reach these we have to play as a team like I know we are capable of, and stay humble.”
Chester Area played in the state tournament a year ago giving his balanced team nine points and seven boards a contest. His time at state last year is something he won’t soon forget.
“One of the top moments was when we made the state tournament,” said Eppard. “It is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
The Chester Area football team is 5-1 at the moment and Austin plays tight end and defensive end for the team. He’s also a track standout. In other words, Austin Eppard is a three spot standout being recruited in every sport.
“For basketball I’m hearing from Dakota Wesleyan, Jamestown, and Concordia-Moorhead,” Eppard said. “For football Concordia-Moorhead, Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, and Northern State.
“In Track & Field I’m hearing from South Dakota State, U of South Dakota, U of Sioux Falls, Northern State, Dakota State, and some other smaller schools.”
