The 6’3″ Womack enjoyed a solid freshman season at Allen County Community College (KS). Heading into the 2016-17, Womack has already heard from schools such as Tennessee State, Jacksonville State, SEMO and Southwest Baptist.
Womack was a valuable reserve on Cardinal Ritter’s Class 3 state championship team as a junior in 2014. As a senior, he averaged 19 points and six rebounds in leading Ritter to a 21-6 record. He spent the past season getting adjusted to the junior college game, but he turned in a productive year on the offensive end.
“After one year of Juco basketball, I think it helped me get better as a player and as a student of the game,” Womack said. “I’ve gotten stronger and I see basketball differently, being in one of toughest conferences in Juco basketball. The competition is tough night after night. It was a big adjustment seeing great talent night in and night out.”
As a freshman, Womack averaged 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 70 percent from the free throw line. Womack came to Allen County with the reputation as a scorer and he displayed his offensive skills with several breakout performances last season.
Womack had a season-high 29 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the field against Hesson College. In his first home game, he scored 24 points on eight of 11 shooting from the field against Oklahoma Wesleyan. He also scored 20 points against Butler County later that season.
“My main strength as a player is how I can create my own shot and get to the basket,” Womack said. “In high school, that was all I did. When I got to college, my shot has gotten me most of my points. Also, I can see the court and create for others.”
Womack helped Allen County to a 16-16 record last season. With several talented players returning, his goals are to help his team challenge for the top spot in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
“My goals for this season are first to make it to the national tournament and compete,” Womack said. “We have a great team and great pieces as a whole.”
