Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo (2017 Point Guards/Combo Guards)
The inaugural Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo was held last weekend at the Center of St. Louis. Nearly 200 players were in attendance at what was a very successful event. We are in the process of posting positional breakdowns from the Expo by each class. Next, we take a look at some of the top point guards and combo guards from the Class of 2017 from the Top 250 Expo:
Matt Austin 6’1″ St. Joe Central: The talented combo guard earned MVP honors with his excellent play on both ends of the court. Austin has a quick first step to the basket and he can finish at the rim with Tony Parkeresque efficiency. He also showcased a nice 3-point stroke and a stop and pop jumper from the mid-range. He was just as disruptive on defense with his quick hands and quick feet. Austin was among the camp’s leaders in steals.
Jaiden Bristol 6’0″ St. Joe Central: The high school backcourt mate of the aforementioned Matt Austin, Bristol also had an impressive showing at the Expo. He is strong with the ball and very quick, which enables him to get wherever he wants to go. He had several nice coast to coast drives to the bucket in transition. He was also an excellent rebounder for his size.
Njenga Chatman 6’0″ Parkview: It was my first time seeing this young man and I was impressed with his offensive game. He displayed a quick first step to the basket as well as a nice stroke from 3-point range.
Preston Wuebker 6’2″ Advance: A small-school combo guard who can handle the ball and shoot it well from long distance. He was equally good at shooting it off the catch or off the dribble if he had some space. He plays hard and enjoys the competition.
Keion McGuire 6’0″ McCluer North: McGuire is a physically strong guard who knows how to use that strength to his advantage. He had the ability to play through the contact and get to the rim. He is also a solid defender who also shot the ball well on the move.
