“I played a lot of baseball this summer which is my favorite sport but I worked in basketball workouts every now and then during the summer,” said Ouellette.
“Now that baseball is over and I don’t play football because of concussions I work a lot on my basketball skills and train every day to help out the team as much as I can for my senior year.”
The Midgets were 16-10 last year and they are looking at 20 wins this winter.
“I think our whole team’s goal is to have fun the whole season which should be everyone’s goal but besides that we want to play to our potential and hopefully we get to win a state championship.
“Our team is a very high pace, run and gun team and if we keep calm and slow the game down I think we can be a solid team. Defense is a big focus for our team and if we work hard at practice being a good defensive team is a reachable goal.”
Tanner’s junior year of basketball was shortened by nine games because of another head injury.
“My favorite moments are the start of the season jitters and having the motivation to get better throughout the season but then against Bismarck High I got my 5th concussion so I was out from the middle of the season till WDA.
“When I came back it was hard work getting back into it but WDA and state had a whole new atmosphere that I’m not used too but just hitting threes are a good feeling and I can’t wait to get back this senior season.”
Ouellette is looking at college baseball.
“Just some smaller colleges in North Dakota for baseball is about it for schools looking at me, I’m hoping for something bigger soon! If nothing big comes up then I’ll focus on a medical career path which I’m very interested to pursue.”
