Recruiting Report: Grant Kubiak (2017)
With great size and a developing skill-set, Kalamazoo Central 6-foot-6 small forward Grant Kubiak is one of the more intriguing wings in Michigan’s 2017 class.
He saw little playing time last year during his junior season with the Maroon Giants, but is eager to showcase himself as a senior this winter.
Even with the lack of exposure so far, Kubiak has racked up interest from several Division III programs.
“I got Manchester, Albion, St. Francis, Bluffton, Kalamazoo College — they’re all texting and calling, letters too. Manchester and Albion are probably the big two right now,” said Kubiak, who says D3 hoops is something he’d embrace.
“Oh ya, I’ll play Division III no problem. I just want to play”
A versatile wing with great size, Kubiak defined his strengths and playing style to PHMI.
“I can shoot, and I’m trying to work on my post game because I’m getting taller and bigger,” he said. “I can run the floor real well, and I can defend all positions except the point guard.”
After coming off the bench last season, Kubiak is working to get himself into the starting lineup this year.
“They want more from me this year, and hopefully I’m going to start. I’m going to keep working hard in the gym like I’m doing now,” he said.
“And then personally, I just want to go out there and work and try and get some college interest and an offer.”
