A 6-foot-8, 215-pound post player, Boyd, competed last season for a Miller Career squad that finished the season 21-5. He averaged 8.6 points per game, shot better than 60 percent from the field and hauled in eight rebounds per contest.
“I brought a big man impact to the game,” Boyd said. “I filled the role of a big man. Led the team in rebounding, block shots and was still able to score.”
Boyd said playing with Yanders Law in the NY2LA series helped his game grow as he prepared for the upcoming season.
“This summer was pretty good,” he said. “I thought I showcased my self well. They put me in a lot of positions to be great and to show my ability everywhere on the floor.”
Boyd spent much of the offseason focused on improving at the defensive end of the court as well as improving his motor and leadership skills.
“My defense and my effort has picked up a lot,” Boyd said. “I know when to move and when not to move, and I have gotten a lot better about talking on defense. I want to make sure I am being an impact when I am on the floor.
“I have been working on rebounding. I also want to make sure I talk on defense and being able to guard a guard off the screens. I want to be a leader.”
Although he currently does not have any offers, he has heard from several NCAA Division I programs, and drew a lot of interest from Akron and Kennesaw State. More recently he has been talking to Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
