Grage is a physical big on the hardwood, a tight end and defensive end in football, and has participated in multiple events in track including high jump and hurdles.
Brandon Valley basketball has high expectations this winter with Grage back along with top 20 player in state Drew Jurgens as well as big win Zach Scholten. To get ready for his final year Grage played with the best 17U team in the state this year.
“I played with South Dakota Attack this summer,” said Grage. “And I went to open gyms and hit the weight room. And then I played with my school team for a couple tournaments.”
All of this effort is for one thing, to get past SF Lincoln and/or SF Washington (or the others in District 2, as well as a potential District 1 opponent) and make the state tournament.
“To make it to state this year, that is our goal,” Grage said. “Performing as a team and doing your role. Finish games as a team. We had lots of games where we were in the position to win and didn’t finish.”
Spencer was the leading scorer and rebounder last year so he holds much of the weight on his shoulders and that’s okay. Grage is one of the state’s best athletic performers which is why he will play college football some day.
“I’m hearing the most from Northern State, University of South Dakota, U of Sioux Falls, Augustan, Morningside, Dakota Wesleyan, Dakota State, and Wyoming all for football,” Grage stated.
“I’d like to visit Augustana, Northern State, and Sioux Falls, and Morningside. I already visited USD.”
