A 6-foot-5, 195-pound forward with a big frame and long arms, Smith says he is excited about the upcoming season with Carl Junction. The Bulldogs were 3-23 last season, but return nearly its entire roster.
“I liked (the Basketball Movement) as it prepared me for the future and my high school career,” Smith said. “But I feel like we’ll have a better season this year and I’m excited.”
“I had a great time with the Hawks because we play together pretty well,” Smith said. “We won games and I enjoyed being around those guys.
“It helped me get more of a perimeter game, playing against bigger guys. It showed me that I couldn’t just be taller than everyone. I had to be a better shooter and better at ball handling.”
Smith said he has been working on his 3-point shooting and ball handling. He said his head coach, Skip Brock, hopes to use him more on the wing this season.
“I’ve took on a bigger leadership role this year,” Smith said. “Last year I didn’t really have to, but this year, I am going to try to make everybody around me better and not just myself.
“I feel like we’ll have a better year this year.”
