Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo: (2018 Forwards)
The inaugural Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo was held last weekend at the Center of St. Louis. Nearly 200 players were in attendance at the very successful event. We are now putting out our positional breakdowns from the event. Today, we are taking a look at the Class of 2018 forwards from the Top 250 Expo.
Matt Leritz 6’6″ SLUH: A versatile Stretch 4 with a nice set of offensive skills. Leritz displayed good moves in the low post and a nice shooting touch with his turnaround jumpers and jump hooks. He also showed his perimeter skills by stepping out and knocking down 3-pointers off the catch. He’s a good athlete who plays with a lot of activity.
Leon Perry 6’6″ Confluence: An athletic forward who was one of the top rebounders at the expo, Perry gobbled up his share of boards on both ends of he court. He probably led the camp in offensive put-backs. He played with excellent activity around the basket. He is an excellent athlete who runs the court well. He also was very comfortable stepping out and making 15 foot baseline jumpers.
A.J. Sommer 6’5″ Parkway South: Sommer displayed his versatility and toughness throughout the day. He can go inside at get tough buckets and battle for rebounds. He was very good on the drive and finishing at the basket. He was playing on a team of 3-point shooters and he fit right in as he knocked down his share of jumpers from long distance.
Davion Davis 6’4″ Lee’s Summit: Davis is a excellent all-purpose player who plays with a high motor. Love the energy he brought to every possession on both ends of the court. He ran the court in transition, played excellent defense and attacked the boards on both ends. He was at his best on offense when he was slashing to the basket.
Jack Mullen 6’6″ Parkway South: A solid post player who competed very well during the day. He has the ability to score inside, but he displayed a nice touch from the 15 foot area. He is also a good passer out of the post. Jack is a blue collar player who will battle you on both ends and play his role very well.
Tyler Joest 6’8″ Breese Central: A long and lean Stretch 4 who was very comfortable out on the perimeter. The small-town kid from Illinois can really shoot the ball from long distance. He had a very confident stroke. Has the ability to cause some problems defensively with his length.
Max Bilbrey 6’7″ Nixa: A solid post player who played with excellent effort during the camp. Max is quite thin, but that did not stop him from throwing his body around in the lane and competing for post position and rebounding. His fine effort earned him a number of bucket off his offensive rebounding.
Zach Wolff 6’5″ Clever: A small-school player who displayed some nice skills and an aggressive style of play. He was excellent in the one-on-one drills has he knocked down jumpers and beat defenders off the dribble. His combination of physical strength and versatility served him well throughout the event.
Skylar Smith 6’3″ Belle: There were a lot of high motor kids at the expo, but none had a higher motor than this energizer bunny. Whether it was the drills or the games, he Skylar was going at a 100 miles an hour. He was diving for loose balls and crashing the boards at all times. He was very effective on his drives to the basket.
Jacob Emily 6’6″ Lutheran St. Charles: A long and lanky combo forward who has a pretty versatile skill set. He could handle the ball and was pretty solid on the drive. He also had a good shooting touch.
