Levi Stockard 6’8″ Vashon: The big pivot man enjoyed a huge summer as Gateway’s leading scorer and rebounder on the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series. Without the restraint of high school officiating, Stockard was a beast on both ends of the court. He displayed a variety of post moves and has a very effective jump hook. Levi was also good with both hands around the basket. He also displayed the ability to score off the bounce from the high post. Defensively, he is strong enough to be a good position defender, plus he was a good rim protector. He has a number of BCS offers, including Kansas State, Marquette, Xavier and Cincinnati.
Elijah Childs 6’8″ Lee’s Summit West: An athletic lefty who has a game similar for former St. John’s star Walter Berry from the mid-1980’s. Played well for KC Run GMC on the Under Armour circuit. He is an active scorer who can really dominate along the baseline with his leaping and high energy. Elijah gets a number of tough buckets in the lane and he can rise up and dunk in traffic. He loves to run the court where he can score in transition. He also displayed a nice shooting touch from 12 to 15 feet. He has a number of offers from mid-major programs.
Wyatt Yess 6’8″ Parkway West: A Yale commit who has versatile skill set for a big. Wyatt has a nice shooting touch in the lane, but he is also comfortable stepping out and knocking down jumpers off the catch. Perhaps his best skill is his ability to pass. He delivers pinpoint passes from the high post or he can pass out of a double team. You can run your offense through him comfortably because of his size and court vision. He will be counted on to do a little more ball handling as a senior with the graduation of a big senior class. Played for Gateway during the summer.
Richard Henderson 6’6″ Pattonville: One of the most athletic post players in the Class of 2017, Henderson is a high-motor kid who loves to play above the rim. He loves to dunk and will try to dunk on people at almost every opportunity. Provided several solid minutes in relief for the St. Louis Eagles team that qualified for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. The strong lefty is a good finisher around the basket, whether it’s in the post or on offensive rebounds. Henderson has given a commitment to Austin Peay.
Brandon Emmert 6’6″ Bolivar: A textbook post player who enjoyed an excellent July evaluation period with the MBA Flight. Emmert put on a clinic at the Hardwood Classic. He got great position in the post and did an excellent job of sealing players who tried to front him. He caught the ball in traffic and scored almost at will with both hands around the basket. Emmert also stepped outside and knocked down 15 footers and scored on many rim runs with good hustle. He also displayed excellent passing skills. Emmert earned several Division II scholarship offers after his productive July.
Eysan Wiley 6’6″ Rock Bridge: A very active post player who enjoyed a good summer with the MoKan Select 17U. He was a double-double machine throughout the grassroots season. He has a very good offensive game from 15 feet and in. He gets buckets in the low post and grabs his share of offensive rebounds for put backs. He can get to the high post and score on drives around opposing bigs, using his quickness and activity. He has received offers and a lot of interest from Division II schools.
Thomas Dutton 6’7″ Hickman: A two-sport standout who has committed to the Air Force Academy to play football. The 240-pound Dutton was a valuable post player for the St. Louis Eagles team that advanced to the Peach Jam of the Nike EYBL. He provided toughness, rebounding and scored around the basket off dribble penetration feeds and offensive rebounding.
Corey Boyd 6’8″ Miller Career Academy: A big, physical post at 260 pounds with a pretty nice skill set. At times, he would show a propensity to float on the perimeter a little too much, but he did a much better job of planting himself in the post and using his size and bulk to his advantage. Played with Yanders Law during the summer. He was tough to move when he established his position and he displayed a nice shooting touch around the bucket. He can be a real formidable force in the low post if he can commit fully to his conditioning because his skill set is evident.
Christian Bundy 6’6″ Nixa: A very productive player whose combination of strength and mobility made him pretty tough to deal with in the post. Bundy was good at running the court and getting early post position for easy scores. He could handle the ball in traffic and score on drop steps and spin moves. He was also an excellent passer in and out of the post. Bundy could also rise and traffic and throw down some impressive slam dunks.
B.J. Wilson 6’7″ SLUH: A big, robust low post player who is good lineman on the Jr. Billikens’ football team. Wilson brings that type of toughness and physical play to the basketball court, where he doesn’t mind throwing his weight around in the lane. He started his career as a defensive presence with his shot blocking, but he has developed some nice moves in the post on offense. He has a nice jump hook that is tough to stop.
