PHI Top 250 Expo: Top Upperclassmen Forwards
This past weekend, the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo took place up in Westfield, Indiana at the Jonathan Byrd’s Fieldhouse. Now, we are trying to break down what we saw. The following is a look at some of the best posts we saw in the morning session of 2017 and 2018 prospects.
Kyle Finch (6’5 – 2017 – Ben Davis). Finch has finally started to take off since the Spring. He’s a guy that has had the physical tools but has yet to shine. Now, he’s getting to that point and doing it because of his physicality. Loved his toughness and low post scoring/rebounding.
Conner Brens (6’6 – 2017 – Plainfield). Brens continues to be undervalued. Not flashy but low-risk with offense, toughness, and rebounding. Physically outplayed everyone he went up against this weekend. Gets low post position really well and scores on either block.
Asher Blum (6’7 – 2018 – Warsaw). Blum got hurt early into the games but putting him on this list goes to show how much we liked early on. Long in the arms and skilled, Blum showed his mobility and scoring touch near the rim. Face-up game is really getting better as well. Guy to watch in 2018.
Caleb Middlesworth (6’8 – 2018 – Oak Hill). Middlesworth has officially has gone to the next level. He’s really dominating the game whether it is shooting or playing inside. Legit 6’8 now and finishing near and above the rim. Loving the balance of his inside-out game.
Darian Porch (6’5 – 2018 – Indianapolis Pike). Porch did really well for stretches. He looks really good during the skills portion which makes me think he has more in his game that will take off here soon. Physical inside threat who is now playing more of a mid-range, faced-up game.
Braxton Robertson (6’5 – 2017 – Henryville). Robertson is a new name that on our radar. Might be closer to 6’6 and did really well facing up in the mid-range and getting to the rim. Mobile forward who can score the ball a bit. Will be checking in this winter.
Jared Hofer (6’10 – 2018 – Fort Wayne Carroll). Hofer looked a lot more active than we have seen. Really like how he looks when he is using his body full time. Blocked a couple shots and really was a pain on the defensive end. When body tones up, skills should start becoming huge.
Jonquell Dawson (6’7 – 2018 – Gary Lighthouse). Dawson is a bouncy, raw prospect who has all the physical tools you want to see. Long in the arms and around the rim he can make plays whether that is scoring in transition or altering shots. A lot of promise in his game.
