PHI Top 250 Expo: Top Underclassmen Athletes
This past weekend, the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo took place up in Westfield, Indiana at the Jonathan Byrd’s Fieldhouse. Now, we are trying to break down what we saw. The following is a look at some of the best athletes we saw in the morning session of 2019 and 2020 prospects.
Victor Young (6’2 – 2020 – Muncie Central). Young isn’t a tall wing, yet. However, his bounce was evident. He moves so well with and without the ball. Elevates on his jumper and as well when he attacks the rim on rebounds.
Corey Landers (6’2 – 2019 – Bishop Noll). Landers was the first player to jump out this weekend as he caught a steal at the top of the key and took it all the way to the other end for a highlight reel dunk. He has a ton of hops and showed it over and over this weekend.
Jared Hankins (6’4 – 2019 – Lawrence North). Hankins is the kind of player that may not jump out the gym but he will cut and hop-step through the defense to get to the rim. He’s a strong, strong kid with some size and he moves like he weighs a 100 pounds.
Amari Sherrod (6’4 – 2019 – Bowman Academy). Sherrod might be the most athletic kid in the class from The Region. Showed a little bit of his hops on his rebounds. Really liked his ability to play all over the floor. Great lateral movement.
Hayden Smithey (6’5 – 2019 – Bishop Dwenger). Smithey looks long and lanky and like he won’t move well. However, it about the exact opposite. He looks so comfortable in his body that he’s got a legit shot to stay at the guard spot.
