New Head Coach, Team Ready To Turn Page
One of the most evident things was how this team had turned the page on last season and were heading towards this winter in a positive, new direction. New head coach Michael Shelton looks like a breath of fresh air for the kids in the program as a guy they can relate with and a guy that will be an advocate for his players. It almost seems like a perfect fit for what this team needed.
Trio To Lead Park Tudor
Obviously, losing Jaren Jackson to prep school is going to hurt but they have a trio of guards that will be tougher than any other backcourt in 3A and will be as competitive as any in the state. Led by seniors Kobe Webster and Isaiah Rice, and sophomore Isiah Moore, this team will probably put up plenty of points. Webster and Moore were hitting everything that day and even Rice, who is more of a driving force, was showing his range. Size will be an issue but that might lead this team to play more uptempo.
Depth Is Concern But Possibilities Are Apparent
One of the other glaring needs for this team is size. They don’t have much at all but they do have some guys that will get the chance. Brent Brimmage and Sam Dattilo will provide some senior leadership and strength. Aidan Baker could see a bigger role as a backup to the guard trio. Freshman Kadaphi Honaker has upside and size. Early season contributions might be small but if he matures quickly his role could easily grow with it. This team will obviously be different this season but they seem to have players and coaches in place to be successful.
