JP Costello of South Dakota Attack (SF O’Gorman). Costello’s work ethic has opened the door for him to play at a number of different options after high school if that is his wish. For JP it was all about work ethic at 6-foot-6 and it’s a work ethic that people liked.
Bradley Dean of Dakota Niners (Pierre). His three point shooting performances including an event high 30 points in a game in the Dakota Showcase had college coaches circling his name after the event as a big time shooter that they need to look into.
Aaron Fiegen of Dakota Schoolers 16s (Madison). I like his toughness, his length for his frame, his quick turns in the post, and the low post skill that includes a very soft touch. A guy we will be watching close playing up front with Big Austin the senior.
Ethan Freidel of BBA Force (Tea Area). We’ve all known that Ethan can shoot at a high percentage and we all knew that he can be a playmaker but some of his performances were more than that. They were at a level of scoring production that few can match in terms of scorching the nets.
Noah Freidel of SD Attack 15s (Tea Area). SD Attack were dominant at times and what was most impressive was the way they played against some of the best teams in the Midwest and Noah was often the best player on the floor and we are talking about guys that will play D1 and D2 someday.
Drew Jurgens of PBC Buus (Brandon Valley). The sizeable frontcourt player at 6-foot-8 can play a couple positions because he is so comfortable facing the basket and making skilled plays. Jurgens has picked up a couple scholarship offers after showing comfortable skills facing the basket.
Joey Messler of BBA Force (SF O’Gorman). Messler showed more versatility than we thought he had. We saw him guarding several positions, handling the ball, scoring, playing a number of positions on offense, etc. Did whatever he was asked to. He and Jayden Burggraff have to be two of the best role guys we saw all year in South Dakota.
Josh Mohs of PBC Buus (Brookings). A lead guard that impressed this summer as much as anybody out there. Loved how he took control of games in the two summer events we saw and loved his toughness even more.
Jack Talley of Dakota Schoolers (SF Washington). Talley played well enough for the Schools this off-season to grab scholarship offers and open the doors to other options as well in college basketball. He had looks before the summer, coming out of the summer he has options.
Tayton Vincent of Dakota Schoolers (Sioux Valley). Tayton played some excellent basketball in July. In fact, the player I watched in July looked like a different guy than I watched in the spring. There was more confidence, more burst off his attack dribble, and he was more vocal as a leader. Really liked the way he played in July.
