It’s hard to miss Fenton 6-foot-10 center Nick Wyrick.
Certainly one of the state’s tallest prospects, Wyrick is still falling a bit under the radar in terms of his recruitment. And according to him, there have been only two schools which have reached out.
“University of Chicago has sent me something about recruiting, and then Madonna has been recruiting me. And that’s about it so far,” said Wyrick, who’s not picky about who recruits him.
“I hope recruiting goes well for me. I don’t mind where I go, but I’d like to go to a good school, with a good basketball program because I want to get better. And it doesn’t matter where it’s at.”
With his great size, it’s no surprise that Wyrick considers himself most dangerous around the rim.
“I’m good anywhere around the paint, that’s where I’m best. I’m a good passer, and I like the inside-out looks. I’m working on my hook-shot and my free-throws, those need to get better,” said Wyrick, who recently wrapped-up his 17U season with TC Elite.
“I was the captain on that team, and I felt like I had a lot of responsibility. I was making sure we were doing things right, getting the plays right, things like that.”
Now he’s just three months removed from the start of his senior season with the Tigers.
“My goal is to break my record that I set last year for most rebounds in a year,” said Wyrick. “And I think this year will probably be the best year for me because I’m a senior and I’m experienced.”
